Ignite 2024 kicks off these days (November 19-21) with several big announcements and updates, especially in AI, security and productivity. Nadella also pointed out that in a world driven by AI, data governance becomes even more important. He mentioned that Purview is designed to help organizations deal with these challenges effectively, and that Microsoft continues to invest heavily in security to protect the data of its users
A brief summary of the news that will be launched during Ignite 2024 follows below.
Insider Risk Management 🥷
Public Preview: risk-based AI usage detections in IRM, focused on identifying risky activities on GenAI apps such as requests containing sensitive information, as well as responses generated from sensitive files or containing sensitive information. These new detections will cover user interactions with M365 Copilot, Copilot Studio and ChatGPT Enterprise, preventing misuse of these technologies by accidental, negligent or malicious insiders. This feature classifies users' risk based on their activities, so administrators can then identify at-risk users and apply data security policies to users who pose the greatest risk.
Data Loss Prevention⭐
With DLP for M365 Copilot, you can now create DLP policies to exclude documents with specified sensitivity labels from being summarized or used in replies in M365 Copilot Business Chat.
The feature can be configured for a specific sensitivity label at the file, group, site, and/or user level, giving you the flexibility to refine the policy based on the needs of your organization. For example, if you have users working on a M&A process and are part of a group, you can design the DLP for M365 Copilot policy to prevent Copilot from summarizing tagged documents for everyone except those in the group.

Data Security Posture Management for AI, now GA, enables IT administrators to proactively detect AI risks and prevent incidents such as data oversharing or data leakage.
Detects AI activities in the tenant and can, among other things, send alerts using selected AI tools. Below is an extract from the activity log in DPSM for AI.
Microsoft Purview - integration with Microsoft Copilot Studio 🛜
Detect risks in custom-built AI interactions by gaining insight into sensitive data shared with custom-built AI apps via requests and responses, the total number of users interacting with the app, their associated level of risk, and more.
Control the data generated through the custom-built AI app with the ability to audit custom-built AI requests and responses, preserve, collect, analyze, review and export requests and responses, apply request retention or deletion policies, detect request policy violations and answer.
When creating custom-built AI apps in Copilot Studio, the organization will be able to protect sensitive data by ensuring that app-generated responses inherit the sensitivity label of the referenced files, restrict access to sensitive data to only authorized users, and reference sensitivity labels for files used in answer.
